IUC Adekus (Suriname)
With an overall program cycle of over a decade, the IUC program of the VLIR (Flemish Interuniversity Council) provides a unique opportunity to contribute to the institutional development of a university in the South. While such a partnership is demand initiated, the realities of contemporary academic cooperation assume that both the Northern and Southern stakeholders arrive at a jointly owned framework for cooperation that meet the wider program objectives and align with the main features of the IUC program.
The partnership with ADEKUS was initiated and coordinated by Prof. A. Vervoort (KU Leuven) and Mr. Alan Li Fo Sjoe (Adekus) until 2011. From October 2011 on the IUC is coordinated by prof. W. Van Petegem (KU Leuven) and from 1 January 2012 the local coordinator is Dr. H. Ori.
More information on the program can be found here.
