Networks and representational roles

KU Leuven participates or is a valued institutional partner in a number of leading international organisations and networks. Media and Learning Unit has a number of such affiliations, and represents the university through them.

Networks

KU Leuven is a founder member of the European network EuroPACE, a role which is taken on by Media and Learning Unit . EuroPACE is a European network of universities, university colleges and other educational institutions or networks on the theme of networked e-learning or collaborative learning. EuroPACE is mainly active in leading or participating in European research projects. The network's secretariat is at Media and Learning Unit .

The university is a member of the Leru network and Coimbra. In both of these networks, Media and Learning Unit is president of the working groups or units on e-learning.

Media and Learning Unit  collaborates in various ways with the ARIADNE Foundation, of which both KU Leuven and EuroPACE are founder members.

Media and Learning Unit  is also a member of CAWO, a network of Belgian and Dutch Audiovisual Centres (AVCs). This collaboration primarily focuses on knowledge exchange, benchmarking and joint visits to pioneering centres or institutes within the region which work on video and audio (such as Beeld en Geluid in the Netherlands, the BBC in the United Kingdom, etc.).

Finally, on the margins of these networks there is also a private-public partnership with EPYC (a spin-off of K.U.Leuven and EuroPACE) and ATiT (started by former staff members of the AV Service).
