Tariffs
Media and Learning Unit provides services for KU Leuven/UZLeuven staff members and students
Within the services we provide, we distinguish three types of cost:
- actual cost (out-of-pocket)
- personnel cost
- infrastructure/equipment cost
The percentage that we charge per cost type depends on the target group to which the requesting party belongs. The following is an overview of our charge model:

Overheads and VAT may be charged in addition to the cost price, depending on the target group to which the requesting party belongs.

Digitisation and duplication (DigiDup)
This service is open to anybody.
Duplication/digitisation can be used for a variety of purposes. For example, if you have a film on DVD, you can choose to start viewing it from any point you like. Because of this, it is not possible to provide a single price list. What you pay depends on what you want and the target group to which you belong.

OpenNet
Media and Learning Unit can record TV broadcasts for lecturers and educational assistants within KU Leuven.
We record a number of broadcasts as a matter of course. You can obtain a copy of these on request (on DVD).
Would you like another programme to be recorded? If so, contact Media and Learning Unit. The price of an OpenNet recording depends on the length of the programme.
Expertise transfer
Media and Learning Unit distinguishes four categories of expertise transfer: scientific/media-related services, lectures, seminars and workshops/training sessions.
The basic price for each form of transfer is €460.00 per day, but the price you pay depends on the target group to which you belong.
Support is free of charge if the following two conditions are satisfied:
- the requesting party is a KU Leuven member of staff or student;
- the expertise transfer falls into the category of scientific/media-related services, a lecture or a seminar.
Depending on the type of transfer, specific supplementary charges may be made:
- Travel time: €28.75 per hour

Coffee, water, hand-outs and other media material:
- For a whole-day session €10.00 per person
- For less than a whole-day session: €5.00 per person (minimum)
- Sandwich lunch (including drinks): €10.00 per person

Mobile support
You can contact Media and Learning Unit for audiovisual support on KU Leuven premises. You will need to fill in an application form. The price you pay for the support depends on the target group to which you belong and is charged on the basis of the Technical Services charge model.

Editing
The editing units are available only to students and staff members at KU Leuven. Media and Learning Unit provides this service free of charge, provided the material in question is used for KU Leuven purposes.
The same target group can also contact Media and Learning Unit for the editing of private or commercial material, but this is not free of charge.

Production
You can submit a request to Media and Learning Unit to have a multimedia production created. The amount you pay depends on the target group to which you belong.

Lending service
Any student or staff member at KU Leuven may make free use of the Media and Learning Unit lending service to borrow audiovisual equipment for education-related activities.
Video conferencing
You can contact Media and Learning Unit for support with video conferencing. The price you pay depends on the target group to which you belong.
Under the following conditions, the support is free of charge:
- the requesting party is a KU Leuven staff member or student,
- the support is related to the educational process,
- the video conference takes place during office hours (8 am to 6 pm),
- it takes place at one of the permanent set-ups of Media and Learning Unit (Interaction Room or Green Room).
The price also depends on the number of participating sites, when the video conference takes place, how long it lasts, etc.
