Our approach
Multidisciplinary
Media and Learning Unit takes a multidisciplinary, integrated approach. The problems for which we offer support and provide solutions require attention at the media-specific, educational, technical and organisational levels:
- media-specific: Media and Learning Unit has expertise in the area of audiovisual aids in education and in all communication processes at our university.
- educational: our services are embedded at all levels in the educational concept of accompanied self-study.
- technical: Media and Learning Unit follows trends in the development of ICT, educational and learning technology, multimedia and new (e-)media, and the production of high-quality image and sound in both analogue and digital form, for use in education and other communication processes.
- organisational: we look for optimal models in order to combine the different parties involved in the learning process (learners, learning resources, lecturers, etc.) into a systematic entity that works together effectively towards the desired goal (e.g. networked e-learning in an international context).
The multidisciplinary composition of the Media and Learning Unit team makes it possible to provide the right service in each of these fields based on an adequate level of knowledge.
High-quality
Media and Learning Unit ensures the quality of its end products and services by taking both a project-based and a process-based approach to its activities.
- Project-based working is characterised by dividing activities into phases. During the initial phase, an activity is designed in conjunction with a client or on our own initiative. Once agreement has been reached about the approach plan (and associated resources), the execution phase follows, with a project team and project leader. In the final phase, the end product is delivered, and the activity is completed and evaluated. A project-based approach increases the effectiveness of activities with a view to a high-quality end product.
- Process-based working means that the way in which projects are carried out is streamlined in (internal) operational processes. This enables similar projects to be carried out in the same way, although the project teams and project leaders vary. Process-based working increases the organisation's efficiency and is an important instrument in the development of the service.
