The possibilities of multimedia applications via the internet have increased enormously because of the advent of affordable high quality digital cameras, desktop video editing programs, streaming and the developments in the field of band width. The use of digital video and audio is also trickling down into education with the advent of the digital learning environment. Yet the integration goes very slow. The advantages of a digital learning platform are not yet used optimally. Integration, interaction and learner control are terms that are often used but rarely applied. For several hundred years the word has dominated in classrooms and that has not changed yet. Still:

“Research confirms that people only remember 20% of what they see, 30% of what they hear, 50% of what they hear and see and 80% of what they see, hear and do at the same time.” (Computer Technology Research Corporation, in Hofstetter, 2001)

The use of multimedia in education can have a positive impact on learning. Audio-visual and multimedia material (AV/MM) can help students to participate actively in the learning process. It is important that these new technologies are produced, compressed and implemented efficiently within the electronic learning environment.
Producing a video or audio fragment is certainly no sinecure. It takes time, patience, creativity and knowledge. But with the right tips & tricks you can develop high quality audio-visual or multimedia material by yourself in a relatively easy way. And it is here we want to help you. In this course we will guide you through the whole production process step by step: from the choice of media until the implementation within the digital learning platform itself.

The course is divided into 6 different parts, which you have to go through if you want to put your self-produced (or other) audio-visual material on your Toledo course. Determine via the course description where you would like to start the course.
